Impacts on Society
Noise has, since the beginning, been a disturbance to the environment that is escalating at such a high rate that it will be a major threat to the quality of people's lives. There are numerous effects on the environment due to the increase in noise pollution. Slowly, we are accepting noise and it is psychologically and physiologically destroying us. Major sources of noise can airplanes or a truck, things we encounter and live with every day of our lives.
Everyone is already aware of the fact that noise can damage hearing. However, it is unlikely that many people today would become strongly motivated to do something about the problem. For example, children with hearing loss will not be able to properly speak without special training. People who have stressful lives will suffer from noise pollution because it serves to make them more stressed and possibly even create suicidal thoughts.
If noise pollution continues into the future, there will be major impacts. Large areas of the population and industrialized society are exposed to high levels of noise every day, not only at their work, but also in their homes and in their leisure activities. Sound levels and exposure to noise will remain high and probably increase. At the same time rising living standards will bring about demands for better environmental quality and probably lead to more vigorous and more levels than in the past.
